It all began with a trip at the beginning of 01 to visit a friend.

By chance her hobby was beads. I hadn't known that before. Her work was wonderful. Her fascination with beads was contagious. We visited bead stores. We made one necklace together....

Only one.

And...

the love affair with beads began.

It's true, I enjoy making necklaces. But more than that, I enjoy beads. Buying them, collecting them, searching for them, looking at them, touching them (the only way to really see them) and discovering their amazing role in history. And from this obsession (yes it has turned into that) I discovered lampwork. The art of making beads. And once again by chance, when I stopped by to look at bead supplies in the fall of 01, I discovered a lampworker who willingly shared her skills. I had hoped to take a class that winter - and I did - and it was with a talented lampworker right in my own area!

I bought a torch. I bought some glass. I turned one basement room into what I proudly (blush) like to call "my studio". Tools, a kiln, more glass, and a real delight in the wonder of discovering the amazing properties and surprises of glass have filled my evenings and weekends.

Positive comments and then some inquires as to my willingness to part with my delightful little creations has led me to making this page and sharing these pictures with you.

A fascinating journey... and it has only just begun... so much to learn.

Enjoy these little wonders... my Beads By Chance.
